Pithead

We pack in <
Jolt down /
The smell of closeness
thickening

Sixteen bodies cubed
and dropping
into nothing

Just your half-peach profile
fuzzy through shutters
of one eye at a time
a piece of a jigsaw
of hard hats and noses

You told me you would
smuggle down a star
keep it alive
in the twinkle of your eye
a flower from the desert –
a hope
till we next see * light *
