Oak Hill

When you lift
the rotting log,
you’ll know.
Leaves rise up
in a dance of rain.
All is moving,
writhing, singing.
All is clashing
in the light.
You will fall
among them,
and you
will know.


Meg Smith is a writer, dancer, journalist and events producer living in Lowell, Mass. Her poems have appeared in The Cafe Review, Poetry Bay, Bewildering Stories, the Dwarf Stars Anthology of the Science Fiction Fantasy And Poetry Association, Pudding, and more.

She served on the board of Lowell Celebrates Kerouac!, a festival dedicated to Lowell native Jack Kerouac, from 1994 to 2009. She produces the Edgar Allan Poe show, celebrating Poe’s presence in Lowell.
